If you have been following us on Twitter (shameless plug @ReelTimeFlicks) I’m sure you’ve seen us mention a big announcement was on the way and here it is, JET FUEL CAN’T MELT STEEL BEAMS!!! In all seriousness, we are delighted to announce that we are expanding into the podcast scene. It’s been an idea that was floated around the time Shaun came on board but never really made it off the chalkboard. Only recently have we found out how easy it is the get your own equipment and run it at your own leisure and convenience. It’s difficult to find the time to keep up with new releases and movie news with all of us working and taking on board extra responsibility.
Of course we love writing articles and reviews but it’s hard to keep firing them out at a fast and consistent pace. Writing will still be our main focus but we will have more freedom to focus on discussion articles, reviews of older/classic films, Beer Goggles and Spotlight.
Thankfully, Adam has experience in sound editing and looks like he knows what he’s doing. The formula we’ve come up for each episode will include a talk about and recent trailers or teasers, a discussion on biggest and latest movie news and we’ll finish with a full spoilers discussion review of the most recent films we’ve seen. Our approach is a laid-back, and loose (very very loose). Drinking may be heavily involved (none of us remember recording episode 2, out next week) and in future, we might integrate Beer Goggles and Spotlight into the podcast. Right now we are scheduling each release on a weekly basis, it will depend on the output of trailers and movie news.
This is officially episode 1 and this week we talked about the latest trailers for Ant-Man and Wasp and the abysmal looking Robin Hood. We also discussed the announcement of Rambo 5 and moved into full spoiler reviews for Infinity War and A Quiet Place.
This episode clocks in at around 45 minutes but we hope to trim future episodes down to a 25 – 30 minute timeframe. We are currently using SoundCloud as a host but this is only temporary as we’ll be shopping around for a more suitable platform. All updates to follow on Twitter.
We want to thank all of you reading this for your support, your attention and for giving us justification to spend more time pursuing this! The idea that someone we don’t know, on the other side of the world is sitting down to hear/read our thoughts and that they may even be entertained by them makes the world feel a bit less shitty, so cheers to you, let’s all go enjoy some films.
